State Projects

Our mission is to strengthen individuals, families, and communities through continuing education, leadership development, and community action. Let us strive to accomplish these goals through support for our children, youth, and communities. The following are ideas of areas where our help is needed:

NEW PROJECTS FOR 2022

  • Salute to Health Care Workers

Because each of us has a serving heart, TAFCE will be stressing “Salutes to Health Care Workers.” All facets of health care providers need to be supported, especially now. See more.

  • Coming Soon – Chair Volleyball

This will be a joint program of agents and TAFCE working together for members to have fun by playing chair volleyball on a team.

Below are where we have helped in the past and will continue to serve.

Education:

  • Read and encourage others to read
  • Encourage TAFCE members to enter the TAFCE Creative Writing yearly contest – Learn more
  • Enter one or many of the Cultural Arts categories to compete with other members to win a ribbon – Learn more
  • Make known and sponsor Character Counts – “The Six Pillars of Character” program that encourages fourth grade students to strive for excellence and creativity through reading, writing, and drawing skills – Learn more
  • Chose a local school and support its needs
  • Support Head Start Programs
  • Support NEA’s Read Across America – Learn more
  • Listen to children read and read to children
  • Support senior centers and programs in your community
  • Provide books to children
  • Teach a class to adults, young adults, or children
  • Join a book club
  • Support TAFCE College Scholarships – donate or raise funds to provide college scholarships for FCE members – Learn more

Leadership:

  • Conduct leadership training for FCE and other community members
  • Teach leadership skills within your FCE club and to other organizations in your circle
  • Participate in any active leadership role to better your community
  • Support and volunteer to help lead 4-H activities – Learn more
  • Mentor single parents and homemakers
  • Share cultural arts/heritage skill with others

Community Action:

  • Collect can tabs for Ronald McDonald House – Learn more
  • Contribute to Wrapped-In-Love (blankets, hats, etc. for cancer) – Learn more
  • Participate in Project Linus (blankets for children) – Learn more
  • Join Sewing 4 Souls – Learn more
  • Share the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) Take Back program for prescription drug disposal
  • Become involved in the Feeding American BackPack Program – Learn more
  • Prepare health packages for Veterans’ Hospitals and county health departments
  • Promote FCE through community festivals, fairs, and community events
  • Attend government meetings
  • Promote family emergency preparation
  • Care for parks and cemeteries
  • Create awareness and educate the community about Human Trafficking
  • Support a homeless shelter
  • Support local Food Bank programs

To be most effective, stay aware of what is happening and the needs in your community. Educate yourself and be aware of the needs of others. Concentrate on what you can do personally and through your local FCE club. Be willing to be part of the solution.
